We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum.
Your child will learn skills over seven areas.
What will my child learn?
Prime Areas: (Vital to all other areas of learning)
- Communication and Language (CL)
- Physical Development (PD)
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)
Specific Areas:
- Literacy (L)
- Mathematics(M)
- Understanding the World (UW)
- Expressive Arts and Design (EAD)
How will my child learn?
Children in the Early Years learn through a combination of short adult led activities and child initiated activities. The indoor and outdoor areas are resourced with materials to develop skills and learning. The children learn through playing and exploring, being active and by creative and critical thinking.
The children have daily phonic, literacy and maths sessions which follow the ethos of learning through play. Children regularly choose and discuss books with staff independently and in small groups.
How do we plan?
The Early Years Foundation Stage has 17 Early Learning Goals which it is hoped the children will achieve by the end of Reception. The children work towards age related goals that will help them to take small steps towards achieving these Early Learning Goals.
We plan topics and activities for the children that follow and develop their interests and prepares them for subject specific study in KS1. At the beginning of each half term, we will provide a termly overview. The activities on this overview may change or evolve depending on the children’s' particular interests.
