Locally Sourced Lunches

Today Jane started the first of our locally sourced lunches.  The children and staff had a delicious lunch of roast gammon, potatoes and carrots supplied by the Moorhouse Farm Shop and the dessert was ice cream from The Parlour in Stannington.  We are hoping to make these lunches a monthly occurrence.

September- Stannington Make, Bake and Grow Show

It was lovely to see so many of our children and families at the Make Bake Grow and Show on Saturday, what a fantastic show it was, it gets bigger and bigger every year!  I was particularly proud of all the entries from the school, our children are so talented!  Our Gardening Club won the tallest sunflower competition with our sunflower that measured 10 foot, 9 inches!!  I just thought I would have a look in the Guinness Book of Records and see how close we were to being entered into that , and here is the entry about the tallest sunflower:-The tallest sunflower measures 9.17 m (30 ft 1 in) and was grown by Hans-Peter Schiffer (Germany) in Karst, Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany, as verified on 28 August 2014.  So we are not quite there yet!  No pressure on the Gardening Club to try to equal or beat this height next year!!  Our gardeners also came second in the Heaviest Pumpkin and the Heaviest Marrow competition, well done!  Thank you also to all the staff who worked so hard to prepare the entries and who went to support the show on Saturday.
