This afternoon the children have all changed classes to learn about Sikhism. It was lovely to see Mrs Bolam’s class in Mr Donnelly’s classroom, Mr T’s class in Mrs Bolam’s room and Mr Donnelly’s class in Mr T’s room. The change will be happening on Thursday afternoons up until Half Term – the children were all very excited about the changes and their learning.
Happy New Year to all our website readers! As I am walking around the school today, there is a buzz throughout the school of children eager and ready to learn. I think everyone has come back to school refreshed after the Christmas holiday and ready to get back to work. There are going to be lots of exciting things happening in school this half term, Hedgehogs and Badgers are learning about Fairy Tales, Swifts are learning about Knights and Castles (they are currently designing their own coat of arms) and Owls are learning about the Romans. The Early Years were busy this morning tranforming their role play area into a gingerbread house and there looked to be some delicious gingerbread houses being made too. Owls are drawing Roman busts of themselves and then finding out their Roman name…. What a busy school! I look forward to seeing lots of more interesting work over the coming weeks. I am certain that the staff will be putting lots of photos and pieces of work on the website for you to have a look at, we hope you enjoy looking at them.
The Owls and the Swifts have been using the Ipads to design and create their own QR Christmas cards. You can scan the images to reveal a Christmas message! The Year 1 and 2 children had the chance to show the Owls how to use the app on the Ipad.
Once again our P.T.A organised a super event which was enjoyed by all who attended! Our Auctioneer, Mick Dungait, was brilliant and managed to sell all the lots for very good prices. The total raised has yet to be announced, but it will be around £2,000 – a fantastic sum. Thanks to all who organised, attended, put in sealed bids, or put up an item for us to sell. We look forward to finding out what the next event will be.
Our children are all settling in well and enjoying investigating all of the different activities available both inside and out. They have created beautiful self-portraits which are taking pride of place in the classroom. Attached is the topic sheet for this half term EYFS Topics Autumn Term 2013. This may change depending on the children’s particular interest.
What a lovely end to the Summer Term we had!! The water fight was, to use one of the favourite words of the children – epic!! I think there were some photographs taken which may appear on here at some stage.
On behalf of all the staff I would like to wish all our children and parents a very happy holiday!
Earlier this year we had Pippa, a professional tennis coach come to our school to delivier some sessions for Year 3. Who knows – perhaps we have the next Wimbledon champion here…
We have been learing Brazillian druming for the past few weeks and are now preparing for a mini concert for parents!
