Children’s Cancer Run – Sunday 17th May 2015

We will once again be attending the Children’s Cancer Run at Newcastle Race Course this year on Sunday the 17th May 2015.

The Children’s Cancer Run is a 5-mile cross country family fun run set up to raise money for the North of England Children’s Cancer Research Fund (NECCR), and is sponsored by Greggs.

We always have a great day come rain or shine, with lots of entertainment, as well as medals, a free t-shirt and Greggs picnics for all participants

You can sign up to run with the school by clicking on the link below:

Crime scene!

Last week we had a mysterious visitor in our classroom. They came in during the night and ate some porridge and broke some chairs! Can you guess who it was?

We looked at the clues they left behind and jotted down lots of questions into our ‘police’ notebooks.

Christmas Celebrations

During the last weeks of the Autumn term we were very busy preparing for our Christmas play, Christmas Fate and creating festive decorations. Some children had the opportunity to sing Christmas Carols in front of Lord Ridley during the turning on of the Christmas tree lights. The children prepared items for their classes stalls and some children manned the stalls! We also had many visitors in school. The Char Masum, The Ridley Arms and St Mary’s inn cook our school Meals and thank them for doing so. They were really tasty!  Our Year 3 and 4 children took on the roles of waiters/waitresses to serve the staff and local community their Christmas dinner. The children loved making festive crafts, carrying out surveys, writing letters to Santa and many more activities in the run up to Christmas!

Year 4 SAGE Performance

Last week the Year 4 children sang alongside other local schools from within the Morpeth Partnership to a packed crowd at the Sage in Gateshead. Although it was a long day, Miss Enzor and Mrs Stokoe were very proud of the children’s performance and fun was had by all.

Green Team News – Autumn 2014

Autumn term

The Green team have had a busy start to the school year. We have been continuing to encourage our friends to put paper and card into the green recycle bins, turning off lights and computers when we are not using them and always turning off taps after washing hands!   We have also been picking up rubbish from the nature trail and yard but also encouraging our friends to put their rubbish in the bins.

Christmas Cards

To help the environment, this Christmas the Green team have a special request.  Instead of spending lots of money on Christmas cards and sending individual cards to all of your friends in school, could you only send 1 card to the whole school? If you wish, you could make a donation of food, biscuits or chews and this will be donated to the local cat and dog shelter.

Thank you

School 360 E-Learning Platform: Competition

We will be using a new E-Learning platform provided by NCC and Schools 360.  You can still access Nortle until Easter. The tools from Nortle can also be found in Schools 360. Your child will be given a password in the near future.

To help launch the new platform we will be holding a competition. Your child needs to design a new ‘digital badge’ for their school house group (Alnwick, Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh and Warkworth) .

They may design their badge using any media ( paint, crayon, pen etc..) and we will scan them. Alternatively, your child could create their badge using a paint package (2paint a picture on purplemash/nortle or an ipad app). Send your designs to admin@stannington.northumberland.sch.uk

You can access School 360 via these links:
